Simply find the application in your apps list. Press and Hold on the application and select Uninstall

To put your phone in flight mode, or offline mode, go to Start – Applications list – Settings. Then press Flight mode.

If you’re away from a charger and want to conserve your phone’s battery, then go to Settings – Battery Saver. A heart symbol should appear over your battery indicator.

This turns off various features such as push email, and some Apps will be prevented run in the background.

When it is turned on, you can also press Advanced at the top of the screen. From here you can choose when the feature gets automatically turned on, or whether it should be used permanently.

Unless you are one of the lucky few who has an unlimited data plan, then you will want to avoid going over your monthly data limit. Fortunately there is a Windows Phone feature called Data Sense.

This feature allows you to monitor your data and Wi-Fi usage and also which Apps are using the most data. You can also set a download limit per month so you don’t go over your allowance which includes the ability to prevent background downloading when you are close to your limit.

Data Sense can be found in your App Drawer.

Bing Vision is a great tool which works in a similar way to the QR / Barcode scanner on some phones.

Open the Bing Vision App and it will use phone’s camera to take a phone of an object, product, book etc. It will then scan any text on the object and search for relevant information. It can also translate the text into another language.

Any example might be to scan the cover of a book. Vision will search for the book and provide you a price comparison from various book sellers.

To fast forward or rewind a song while playing, you need to look for two circle buttons with arrows in them.

These are used to play the previous / next tracks.

If you Press and Hold them however, you can fast forward or rewind the track.

To rate your applications to help other users, go to the Applications list. Then Press and Hold on the app. Select Rate and review and give it a rating out of five

If you’re abroad and want to translate text or street signs with your camera, then Window Phone provides this great feature.

Be warned that it does require a data connection, so if you’re roaming then make sure you check how much the costs will be.

First, press the search button at the bottom of your phone (three dots) Then press button that looks like an eye to open the Camera. Next, press Scan Text to take a picture of the text and then press Translate.

If it doesn’t work the first time, then try taking the photo straight on, or from a slightly different angle. Once the phone has recognised the text, select a language to translate to and Windows Phone will translate it for you.

To delete maps history, start from the homescreen and scroll to the right.

Then choose Settings – Applications. Then select Maps.

From here you can delete various parts of the maps history.

If you want to type a word with a capital letter, you can press and hold on the Shift key, then slide your finger to the letter and then release. This saves having to press Shift then pressing the letter.

The same thing works for numbers – press and hold the &123 key, then slide your finger to a number and release. The keyboard will then return to the Alphabetical keyboard so you don’t need to toggle between the two
