It is possible to take a screenshot using Windows Phone however the process has changed from Windows Phone 8 to Windows Phone 8.1. Below we have described both methods for clarity:

Windows Phone 8 – Simply press and hold the Windows key and the Power key together. You might need to hold it for a second or so until the phone registers the combination. You should hear a click sound.

To view the screenshot, then go to Photos – Albums – Screenshots. They should be saved as PNG files.

Windows Phone 8.1 – If you try the above method on this version of WP, then you will see a warning that the combo has changed. The new combination is as follows: Press and hold the Power and Volume Up keys together. As above, you may need to hold for a second or so.

To pair your phone with Bluetooth speakers or a headset via Bluetooth, then start from the homescreen and scroll to the right.

Then choose Settings – Bluetooth. Then slide the Bluetooth to On. The phone will then scan for nearby Bluetooth devices. It may ask for a password for the device. Try entering 0000 or 1234.

Please note that this may not work for all devices.

To edit a photo after you have taken it, navigate to your chosen image and press the symbol that looks like three full stops in the bottom right corner. From here, select Edit.

You will now be presented with a number of options such as Crop, Rotate, Auto-fix and Creative Studio.

Sometimes, especially if you’re going abroad, you will want to save maps to view when your phone is offline.

This isn’t an obvious feature to find, but you should go to Settings – Applications – Maps – Download Maps.

From here you can download whole regions, countries or continents to your phone for viewing when you don’t have a data connection. Be warned that this can take up a lot of storage space however. For example the whole of the UK might take around 500Mb of storage space.

OneNote is a great App for taking notes and syncs them on the Cloud and across all devices that you have OneNote setup for.

To set this up, go to your App Drawer and load OneNote. From here you can make, edit or share notes. To search for specific notes you can use the magnifying glass and press the + key to add a new note.

To quickly access your Favourites, simply start typing the name or URL of them in the URL bar. They will then appear there. This can be faster than going into Favourites manually.

When viewing your photos or videos, you can view them in filmstrip mode. Open a picture or video, then pinch it as if you shrink it. You can then view several in filmstrip mode.

This will work better when your phone is tilted into landscape mode.
