If you are going into a meeting for an hour and want to silence the phone for the hour, but turn off silent after the meeting, you can set a timer to your profile.

Go to Menu – Settings – Profiles. Highlight the profile you want to use and select Options. Select Timed and choose the time you want to activate the profile for. The menu should display a clock next to the profile to tell you that it’s timed

There are a number of different types of screen savers. To view and activate them, go to your menu, then Settings – Themes – Screen saver

Press the top-right of your screen, just next to the battery indicator. This will show your current connections as well as your clock and battery

Your phone comes with a USB to micro USB cable. You can use this to plug a USB memory stick into the cable and the cable into your phone

There is a very easy way to transfer your contacts, calendar events, bookmarks, messages etc from your old phone.

First you need to get both devices and turn Bluetooth on. Then on your N8, go to Menu – Settings – Phone switch. Then select the middle icon (receive data). Then press Continue and find your old phone in the list of Bluetooth devices. When it asks for a passcode, just type in anything (for example 1234) and press Ok.

Then go to the old phone and type in the same Passcode.

On your N8 you will be given some options of what data you would like to receive. Select the data types you want, and press Ok.

On your old phone you should be asked if you want to Allow synchronisation, so select Yes. Your data transfer should begin. Be patient as it may take awhile depending on how much data you want to transfer

To change how the phone behaves when you slide the keyboard, go to Settings – Phone – Slide handling

By default when you plug your phone in to a computer, it chooses the Nokia OVI suite. If you would prefer the standard USB mass storage option (so the phone appears as a hard drive), go to Menu – Settings – Connectivity – USB. Then select Mass storage

If you want a different ringtone for a particular person, go to the specific Contact and press Options – Edit. Then select Ringing tone and choose the ringtone you want to assign. The same can be done for Groups. Just go to the specific Group and click on Options – Edit – Ringing tone
