A handy feature is to automatically backup your photos to Skydrive. To enable this feature, go to Settings – Pictures & camera. Change Auto Upload to On

To PIN music or playlists to your start menu, go to your Music player.

Then select the music file or playlist you want.

Then Press and Hold on an item and select Pin to start

To edit a photo after you have taken it, navigate to your chosen image and press the symbol that looks like three full stops in the bottom right corner. From here, select Edit.

You will now be presented with a number of options such as Crop, Rotate, Auto-fix and Creative Studio.

If you’re on a call, you can record the conversation. While speaking, put the phone on Speakerphone. Then hold down the Camera button to record the call.

You can use your smartphone as an Xbox controller.

First, download and install the Xbox SmartGlass App (formerly known as My Xbox Live). Once this is installed go to Xbox hub and make sure your Xbox is turned on and connected to your WiFi router. Then make sure the phone is connected to the same WiFi network.

If that is all setup, then the App will sign you in and you can start controlling your Xbox with the phone.

Press and hold on various keyboard keys and you will find hidden options. A couple of examples are the Period (full stop) key which will present you with other punctuation marks. Or the open bracket ( which will also give you the <, { and [ symbols.

Windows Phone 7 comes with a handy service whereby you can remotely lock or erase your phone should it be stolen. You can also use it to call your phone if you have misplaced it around the house. You can also find your phone on a map. Go to windowsphone.live.com to set this service up

In the Maps application, you can share any location with a friend. First you need to find your location. Open Maps, then find your location. Press and hold to drop a Pin on that location. You can drag the Pin to get a more precise location.

Then press the Pin and select Share. Then choose to share via SMS or Email.

To turn on Caps lock, double press the Shift key.

To turn it off, simply double tap Shift again to disable.

To forward an email you can simply press the Envelope symbol at the bottom of the screen.
