Sony Xperia 1 Tips and Tricks

The phone has the ability to send quick response text messages if your phone is ringing but you can’t answer it.

To change these, go to your Dialler App and press the Menu or More button.

Then select Settings – Quick Responses.

From here you can add or edit your reject messages.

To see which firmware version of Android you are using, use the pull-down menu by dragging your finger from the top of the phone. Select Settings and under System, choose About Device. ?

This should list your Android version, Build number and Model Number.

If you like to use vibration mode but you don’t want to disrupt a whole room due to the Sony Xperia 1 vibration intensity, you can adjust or reduce that accordingly. Just follow the steps below on your phone:

1. From your home screen, swipe down to open the notifications menu.
2. Tap on the Settings icon (usually a gear-shaped one at the top-right portion).
3. Scroll to Device then tap “Sound” or “Sounds and notifications” or “Sound & Vibration.”
4. Under Sound, tap “Vibrations” or “Vibration Intensity.”
5. A bar will appear where you can slide left or right to adjust the intensity of your phone’s vibration. On some phones, users can select from either Light, Medium, or Strong.
6. Tap “OK.” This will automatically save your preference.

This generally works for the Sony Xperia 1 and most Android phones.

For Huawei users, you may need to follow a slightly different method. If you use a Huawei unit, follow the instructions below instead:

1. From the home screen, tap up to locate Settings.
2. Then tap Settings → Strength
3. Swipe up or down to adjust the vibration intensity. That’s from Strong, Soft, or None.
4. Tap “OK.”
5. You will be automatically reverted to the home screen. Don’t worry, your preferred vibration intensity is saved at this point.

To store a phone number that you have received in an email, hold down on the number and you will be given the option to call, send an SMS or add the number to your contacts

To see notifications on your Lock screen, the best option is to download an App called NoLed from the Play Store. This will show notifications such as text messages, emails and missed calls as bright icons on your homescreen.

You can choose between very small squares or small icons and these can assigned by coloured.

Checking Available RAM and CPU utilization on your Sony Xperia 1 is very helpful if you are thinking about removing more Apps.

Looking at which Apps drain your RAM, CPU time, and battery will help you decide which of them should be removed from your phone.

To do this, just follow the simple steps below:

1. Go to your phone settings. You can do this by swiping down the home screen to reveal the notification bar. From there, tap on the gear icon to open Settings.
2. Look for Device Maintenance → Memory
3. Alternately, you can also tap on “Data Usage,” then scroll down to see which apps are taking up CPU power.
4. You may also look for “Smart Manager.” You will see the status of your RAM and Storage in this area. If you tap RAM, you will see a list of apps that are taking up much of your RAM.
5. For Huawei users, you can look for “Storage” under Settings.

All methods from 2 to 4 can be accessed on the Phone Settings alone. There are certain variations, depending on your phone or unit.

This section should also show what is taking up valuable CPU time. Useful if you think some Apps are draining your battery.

To change your default font, go to Settings – Display – Font.

Now you can change the font size.

Another option is to install the popular Go Launcher EX App. Then once this is installed, download their GoLauncher Fonts App.

If you are running low on phone memory, you can look for your largest applications to uninstall.

Open task manager then you’ll see the runnung apps -tap on the app icon- select app info from the popup options- you can close/uninstall from here.

Alternatively Go to Settings – Apps & Notifications – select see all apps and look for the particular app you want to unistall/close then select Force Stop.

From here you can see which applications are taking up the most memory and close them.

A great new feature is dual shot which lets you take a picture of someone else with the rear camera, while simultaneously taking a picture of yourself with the front facing camera. The problem is this feature isn’t obvious to find as it isn’t included in the list of camera Modes.

To find it open your Camera App and you will see three icons in the top right corner. Dual shot is the middle icon of these. Press that and you both cameras will activate allowing you to shoot away.

This may not me available on all Models

To enable / disable your notification light, go to Settings – Device – Sounds and notifications – LED indicator.

From here you can choose various options.

This may not be available on all models. An alternative however is to download NoLED from the Play Store, which has many options for incoming notifications.
