A recent addition to Windows Phone is what’s called Wi-Fi sense which allows you to share your trusted Wi-Fi networks with your friends on Facebook, Outlook, Skype etc. They must also use a recent version of Windows Phone however.

The feature allows you to share your Wi-Fi credentials with your contacts although they won’t actually see the password.

To enable Wi-Fi Sense then go to Settings – Wi-Fi and scroll down where you will find it.

To enable this feature, go to Settings – Touch (this should be down the bottom). It could also be called Motion Launch.

Your phone has a neat feature where if you’re running late for appointment, you can quickly notify the person you’re supposed to be meeting.

First, go to your Calendar App and you should see four options at the bottom. One of these should say Late and should have a symbol of a person running.

Press this and the person you’re meeting will be notified with some sorry text.

A handy feature with Mango is the ability to update your Facebook status with your voice.

If you haven’t already done so, you will need to Register a Phone and Activate Text Messaging. To set this up, log in to your Facebook account and go to Account Settings. Then on the left side, click Mobile, then click Add a Phone. You will be asked to enter your password and your phone settings. You will then be asked to send a text to Facebook to confirm your phone. Facebook will then send you a confirmation code to your phone, which you will then need to type into Facebook to complete the setup.

Next you will need to set Facebook up as a Contact on your phone. Go to the People Hub, press the Plus (+) icon, then press New Contact, then enter Facebook for the Contact’s name. Then enter the phone number as 32665. (you may need to check this here http://www.facebook.com/help/?page=217343558285214 if you don’t live in the UK, US or other common countries)

Once that is setup, you just say Text Facebook on your phone. Then speak your message and say Send. This will then send the message to Facebook which will update your status.

A Virtual Private Network or VPN is now built into Windows Phone devices. This is useful if you want to access a work or personal network while out and about.

These can be a bit tricky to setup, so you may want to ask your work’s IT department for the settings, but this can be found by going to Settings – VPN.
