Microsoft Lumia 535 Tips and Tricks

To disable the mobile version of websites, go to Settings – Applications – Internet Explorer and change it there.

This is useful if you get annoyed by websites automatically serving you mobile versions of their site. By following the steps above, you can tell the phone browser to act as a standard browser for each website that you browse.

The phone has a Facebook application, but you can also integrate Facebook with the phone operating system. First you need to setup your account. Go to Settings – Email & accounts and set it up there

If you are looking at your photos you need to be zoomed out before you can swipe left or right to go to the next photo. If you are zoomed in, swiping left or right will simply pan around the photo

If your phone is on standby, there is an option where if you hold down the camera button it will wake the phone up and launch directly into the camera app. This is great if you want to snap a photo quickly.

From the homescreen, scroll to the right and choose Settings – Applications. Then find Pictures + Camera. Then turn the top option to on.

While viewing a website, press the 3 dots at the bottom of the screen. Then click on Find on page. Then search for the word you want to find

To Copy text to the clipboard (to paste later), then simply press and hold on some text. Then drag the two end circles to select all the text you want. You can pinch and zoom if it makes this easier.

Once you have copied your text, you can then paste it using the Clipboard option (which should appear about the keyboard).

Sometimes while trying to download a game from the Marketplace an error will occur and the download will stop.

To resume the download, open the Marketplace tile and choose Games. Find the game that is having the problem and select ‘Check install’. Then when you’re in the Marketplace downloads screen long-press on the error and choose ‘try again’

On previous versions of Windows Phone users weren’t able to change their lock screen or live tile background, however this is now possible.

To change this, go to the settings menu and select the Start+Theme option. Then choose a Start background.

In this screen you can also set another row of live titles, change the accent colour and also set the phone’s overall colour to dark or light.

To edit a photo after you have taken it, navigate to your chosen image and press the symbol that looks like three full stops in the bottom right corner. From here, select Edit.

You will now be presented with a number of options such as Crop, Rotate, Auto-fix and Creative Studio.

When browsing on your phone you may notice images can be quite blurry or distorted. This is because your network provider is compressing the images before they are downloaded on to your device.

Unfortunately there is no way to override this, but if you have a Wi-Fi connection nearby, then you can turn that on. This will mean that all image downloads come through the Wi-Fi connection, rather than your carrier, and the images should appear normally.
