How to put your iPhone in DFU mode

If your iPhone isn’t working properly, or won’t connect to iTunes, then often DFU mode will fix your problems.

DFU mode stands for Device Firmware Update and is the mode used to upgrade your firmware, or Jailbreak your device. It will also let you interface with iTunes without actually loading the phone.

First, connect your device to your computer and load iTunes.

Then turn the phone off by holding down the power button at the top.

Then hold down both the Sleep/Power button and the Home button together for exactly 10 seconds, then release just the Power button.

Keep holding the Home button until a message appears in iTunes saying recovery mode has been detected. Your screen will be blank, but you will be able to interface with it via iTunes

To exit DFU mode, hold down both the Sleep/Power button and Home buttons while connected to iTunes. Then release and press the Home button which should reboot the phone.
